Burrtec gives Rancho Cucamonga residents free bulky item pickups several times per year by appointment. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, and e-waste qualify; hazardous materials do not.
Rancho Cucamonga residential customers receive complimentary bulky item collection from Burrtec under the franchise agreement codified in Municipal Code Chapter 8.17, typically allowing multiple on-call pickups per household each calendar year with a limit of several items per appointment. Acceptable bulky items include upholstered furniture, mattresses and box springs, large appliances such as washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators (with freon tag required on chlorofluorocarbon units), carpet rolls under 4 feet in length, and consumer electronics classified as e-waste under California SB 20. Residents must call Burrtec at least 48 hours in advance to schedule pickup and place items curbside by 6:00 AM on the designated day. Prohibited materials include household hazardous waste such as paint, solvents, motor oil, batteries, and propane tanks, which must be taken to the San Bernardino County Household Hazardous Waste Facility. Tires, construction debris, and car parts are also excluded and require a roll-off dumpster service or self-haul to a permitted transfer station. Illegal dumping of bulky items in alleys or public rights-of-way is a code violation subject to fines under Municipal Code Title 8.
