Cleveland requires trash and recycling carts to be placed at the curb edge with lids closed and handles facing the house. Carts should be placed at least 3 feet apart and away from mailboxes, parked cars, and other obstacles to allow automated collection arm access.
Carts must be placed on a flat surface at the curb with the opening facing the street. Place carts at least 3 feet from other carts, mailboxes, vehicles, fire hydrants, and utility poles. Do not place carts under low-hanging wires or branches. In winter, clear snow around cart placement area. Carts should not block sidewalks or driveways.
Improperly placed carts may not be collected. Repeated improper placement may result in warnings from the Division of Waste Collection.
