Escambia County residents may not put garbage containers at the curb before 5:00 p.m. the day before collection, and must remove them by 7:30 p.m. on collection day. Waste goes within four feet of the road right-of-way, never in the street.
Beyond the timing in section 82-8, household waste (including yard clippings, leaves and pine straw) must be placed within four feet of the road right-of-way line at the driveway entrance and drained of free liquids (sections 82-169 and 82-172). Waste may not be placed in the street, road, or highway. Containers must not exceed 32 gallons or 40 pounds. "Curbside" is defined as within five feet of the traveled roadway affording reasonable access to collection vehicles (section 82-167).
Non-conforming placement is a second-degree misdemeanor under section 82-23, and defective containers may be refused for collection until replaced.
