Bulky waste, meaning large items that don't fit normal collection, isn't part of routine curbside pickup. Any Escambia County resident may haul their own bulky waste to a county-designated disposal site and pay the required fee.
Section 82-1 defines "bulky waste" as items whose large size precludes or complicates handling by normal collection. Routine residential service covers up to two 20-gallon receptacles of garbage and rubbish plus one cubic yard of curbside rubbish weekly (section 82-131). Bulky items beyond that are the owner's responsibility: residents may self-haul to a designated site, such as the Perdido Landfill, and pay the tipping fee (sections 82-168 and 82-172). Builders and tree surgeons must remove their own debris at their own expense (section 82-145).
Illegally dumping bulky waste instead of using a designated site violates Chapter 82 (second-degree misdemeanor, section 82-23) and the county litter ordinance.
