Full Breakdown

Under the city manager's solid waste collection policy, each dwelling unit's supercart must be placed within five feet of the street edge for pickup. Carts can't go to the curb before 4:00 p.m. the day preceding the scheduled collection day, and must be pulled back by midnight of the day collection is completed. Between pickups, a separate provision (Sec. 28-18(f)) requires storing carts so they don't impede pedestrian or vehicular traffic on sidewalks, alleys, streets or other rights-of-way, and the responsible party at each address must keep the cart itself in sanitary condition.

Violations & Fines

Inspectors tag noncompliant carts with a notice of violation under Sec. 28-29; uncorrected violations can draw a citation and penalties under Sec. 1-9 (Secs. 28-30, 28-31).
