City Code Sec. 26-2(d) sets out where carts go: stored behind the front plane of the house on a paved surface, no more than two in the open, extras screened from view. Carts may be wheeled out for collection no sooner than the day before pickup and must be brought back within 24 hours. Curbside recycling carts (35, 65 or 95 gal) are provided free by Republic Services.
Maple Grove regulates the placement of refuse and recycling containers in City Code Sec. 26-2, subsection (d), as amended by Ordinance No. 22-03. For curbside collection, refuse and recycling containers shall not be moved or placed for collection sooner than the day prior to scheduled collection, and they may not remain at the collection point, or otherwise out of compliance with the storage rules, for more than 24 hours. Between collections, no more than two containers may be stored in the open; they must be in a side or rear yard behind the front plane of the primary structure, directly adjacent to the structure or detached garage, on a paved or finished surface. Any additional containers or overflow must be stored in a garage or screened from view from public rights-of-way and all neighboring properties using permanent landscaping or fencing. Outdoor containers must remain completely closed at all times, be set so they cannot harbor animals or vermin and cannot be tipped over, and be kept reasonably clean. For recycling specifically, the city's contracted hauler Republic Services provides free recycling carts in three sizes - small (35 gallon), medium (65 gallon) and large (95 gallon) - and the carts stay with the home when a resident moves. Collection is every other week citywide.
Placing carts out earlier than the day before collection, leaving them at the curb more than 24 hours, storing more than two in the open, or failing to screen extras violates City Code Sec. 26-2(d).
