Columbus, OH Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Under Columbus City Codes § 1303.021(F), any owner or occupant who wants bulk waste picked up must notify the Division of Refuse Collection to schedule a collection date, bulk is not collected without a scheduled date. Items placed outdoors may not go out more than 72 hours before that date and must be kept in an orderly manner until collected. Bulk pickup can only be scheduled at a dwelling unit with an occupant, and only items actually generated on that property qualify, a resident cannot use their bulk day to dispose of a neighbor's discards or outside debris. If a notice of violation for waste is already open on the property, scheduled bulk collection is blocked until the violation is resolved unless an investigator approves otherwise.
