Columbus, OH Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Under the city's refuse collection code, the division of refuse collection only picks up acceptable waste from occupied residential units, and owners are responsible for container timing. Collection containers must be removed from the point of collection by 2:00 p.m. on the day following the scheduled collection day, then stored within ten feet of the main structure or garage until 6:00 p.m. the day before the next scheduled collection. The Director of Public Service sets the actual collection frequency, routes, and hours by rule for each address; the code itself does not publish a citywide pickup day.
