McCracken County, KY Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 111.01 defines BULKY WASTE as non-putrescible solid waste from dwellings, commercial, industrial, or agricultural sites that is either too large or too heavy to be safely and conveniently loaded into a solid waste transportation vehicle, think furniture, appliances, or construction debris. Because the private haulers under § 111.15 are contracted only to collect 'household solid waste' as narrowly defined in § 111.01, § 111.20(B) states that collectors are not responsible for anything outside that definition, and puts the duty to dispose of it on the individual generator.

Other than yard waste, which § 111.21 sends to a separate compost facility, that waste, bulky items included, must go to one of two listed facilities: Jones Sanitation Holdings, LLC / Freedom Waste Services at 400 State Street, Paducah, Kentucky 42003 (270-557-7342), or Republic Services, Inc. at 829 Burnett Street, Paducah, Kentucky 42001 (270-575-3805). Section 111.22(C) additionally bars putting construction and demolition debris in a household container, and § 111.56(B) prohibits open dumping of solid waste, 'including bulky waste,' anywhere in the county. There is no county-run bulk pickup day or on-call large-item service; a resident with an old sofa or a broken appliance either hauls it directly to one of the two facilities above or arranges a special pickup separately with a hauler.
