Oneida, NY Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 147-2E singles out bulk household items for stricter curbside timing than ordinary garbage. It bars placing furniture, mattresses or other household items being discarded at curbside until allowed by Section 147-4, and states that any item the trash hauler did not pick up that remains at curbside the day after trash pickup will be considered to be in violation. The subsection, added January 5, 2005 by Ordinance No. 05-02, tells residents that if a bulky item cannot go out with a normal collection, residents can arrange for pickup of large items with their hauler, and until that arranged pickup happens the item must be kept in a closed building or stored properly, as outlined in Section 147-3, and not left outside or at curbside.

A requires any container used to hold waste materials to be substantial, tight-fitting, watertight and fly- and rodent-tight, and bars placing any such container within the established inside district closer to the street than the rear line of the main building except on the designated curbside day. -collection-day rule that applies to ordinary garbage, and a bulky item cannot simply be set out early because it will not fit in a can.
