Oneida, NY Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 147-3B makes participation mandatory by incorporation: all collection, transport and disposal of garbage, refuse, solid waste and recyclables anywhere in the City shall be in conformance with the requirements of Local Law No. 3 of 1990 of the County of Madison, incorporated by reference and amended from time to time. Section 147-4D then lays out the residential schedule by geographic route rather than a single citywide day. Its opening rule is explicit that there shall be no collection allowed on Monday, and the routes run Tuesday through Friday, each defined by named roads and boundary lines (Route 46, Route 365A, Genesee Street and Oneida Creek among them), a schedule last amended September 21, 2010 by Ordinance No.

10-05 and again by a resolution effective January 1, 2012. Subsection D(2) requires the hauler to give customers reasonable advance notice of any needed deviation from the schedule due to holidays or other justifiable cause. Section 147-3A separately requires that collection containers be substantial, watertight, fly- and rodent-tight, and kept, within the established inside district, no closer to the street than the rear line of the main building except on the designated collection day. Recyclables ride the same schedule: Section 147-5B requires them to be placed curbside along with the garbage, to be collected at the same time as the garbage, and once at curbside they become county property under the incorporated County Local Law.
