Oneida, NY Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City of Oneida Code § 190-16A(5) governs outdoor storage of recreational vehicles, boats, trailers, vehicle transports and PODS portable storage units specifically Within the Inside Corporation District, on any residential lot or lot used for residential purposes. It confines that outdoor parking or storage to the rear or side yard, keeps it at least 10 feet from any lot line, and caps unscreened storage at no more than 14 days in a calendar year, as amended 5-5-2009 by Ord. 16-01 and 9-5-2017 by Ord. No. 17-01. A corner lot gets a partial exception: such outdoor parking is allowed in the front yard not designated as the 911 address, but only with adequate screening, plantings or fencing approved by the Planning Director or Code Enforcement Officer. Subsection (6) adds a separate, citywide 72-hour rule for any recreational vehicle, occupied or not, parked outside an authorized campsite or parking area or off the owner's own property: it cannot stay put beyond 72 hours unless the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer issues a temporary permit, capped at seven days, and that official has discretion to permit a whole combination or group of vehicles at once.

Because the 14-day outdoor-storage rule is expressly tied to the Inside Corporation District, property inside the Outside Corporation District is not covered by that particular limit, though the separate 72-hour temporary-permit rule in Subsection (6) is not geographically limited the same way.
