Oneida, NY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

5 feet from the curb. The Commissioner of Public Safety may instead designate head-to-curb parking sections where properly marked. Separately, § 180-22 imposes a citywide minimum clearance rule: it is unlawful to stop, stand or park a vehicle on any street other than an alley in a way that leaves less than 10 feet of roadway width open for the free movement of traffic, and the same 10-foot clearance applies inside alleys. Temporary stops for actual loading or unloading of passengers, or stops required by traffic signs, signals or a police officer, are exempted.

Section 180-22 also makes it unlawful to park in the space between the curb (or pavement edge where there is no curb) and the sidewalk, or, where there is no sidewalk, within 10 feet of the curb or pavement edge, which functions as a driveway- and curb-blocking rule. The same section separately bans parking on named stretches of Stone Street, Phillips Street and Boston Street, and adds specific handicapped-space, fire-lane and patient dropoff rules for the Oneida Healthcare Center properties on Genesee Street, Fields Drive and Broad Street. These location-specific bans were most recently amended in 2025 by Local Law No. 1-2025.
