Richland, WA Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Richland has no separate curbside bulk-item pickup; instead RMC § 15.03.090 establishes a voluntary system letting solid waste utility customers request a larger roll-off container for bulk waste such as renovation debris or a large cleanout. RMC § 15.03.100 treats the box as temporary for the first two months of service, billed at a per-day rent charge, and reclassifies it as permanent after two consecutive months. Disposal is billed with a one-ton minimum, and a roll-off container that is not picked up at least monthly is charged a minimum monthly fee of $348.00 regardless of how much waste it holds.

The posted rates include a $150.00 hauling fee, $48.00 per ton disposal charge and $45.00 delivery charge for both temporary and permanent boxes, plus a $5.00 per-day rent charge on temporary boxes. If the roll-off container is overloaded, blocked or otherwise not ready to haul when the scheduled truck arrives, RMC § 15.03.100 adds a $45.00 call-back fee for the extra trip. For smaller loads that do not justify a roll-off box, a resident can instead set out extra refuse beside the regular container under RMC § 15.03.050(C): garbage bags up to 32 gallons and 40 pounds, or boxes up to 40 pounds, for an additional per-load charge under RMC § 15.03.060(B).
