Augusta-Richmond County, GA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

The Urban Services District is split into two zones for collection purposes under Sec. 4-2-37: the business district, bounded by the Savannah River on the north, the eastern side of Fifth Street, the southern side of Walker Street and the western side of Thirteenth Street, and the residential district, which is every other part of the Urban Services District. Sec. 4-2-38 makes it unlawful to let garbage and trash accumulate beyond the regular collection cycle. Sec. 4-2-39 sets the actual schedule: business-district garbage is collected every night, Monday through Friday, except holidays, with restaurants and other business establishments collected nightly Monday through Saturday; residential-district pickup runs on weekdays set by the sanitation department, and yard debris such as tree trimmings and leaves is collected on department-set weekdays under Sec.

4-2-41. Sec. ; nothing may sit in a residential street between the last Friday collection and the following Monday, or in a business-district street between the last Saturday collection and the following Monday, and backyard pickup does not exist in the residential district. Large generators, hospitals, hotels and multi-unit buildings producing more than five 30-gallon cans between pickups must use a Commission-prescribed container and pay 50 cents per cubic yard, billed monthly with a 10 percent late penalty, under Sec. 4-2-44. Sec. following the night run, unless the sanitary department has permitted a 6-cubic-yard-or-larger container to stay.
