Manchester, CT Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Code of Ordinances § 273-1A states that "the Town of Manchester provides curbside refuse and recycling collection and disposal services to single-, two-, three- and four-family dwellings by providing Town-issued refuse and recycling containers." Section 273-1B shifts that duty for anything larger: "it is the responsibility of each owner of any building that is not a single-, two-, three- or four-family dwelling to provide refuse and recycling containers... and to provide for the removal and disposal of refuse and recyclables in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations." Placement timing is fixed by § 273-4D: containers cannot go to the curb "before 12:00 noon on the day prior to the designated collection day," and once emptied, the resident must remove them "by 12:00 noon on the day following the collection." Section 273-4C requires containers to sit at the curbside rather than in the roadway unless the Director of Public Works approves otherwise, and the Town's contractor is not required to enter a building to collect.

Waste placed curbside that is ineligible or improperly set out gets a notification sticker under § 273-5, giving the owner three days to remove it before the Director of Public Works removes it and bills the owner. Scavenging recyclables from curbside containers by anyone other than the Town's contractor or the property owner is separately banned under § 273-8.
