Manchester, NH Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Manchester's Housing Code (Ch. 150) requires every multi-family dwelling, defined elsewhere in the code as a structure with more than two units, to have a dumpster or wheeled toters sized to hold all rubbish and garbage the building generates, in addition to the plastic or metal covered containers owners must supply each unit under § 150.063(A). The Highway Department and Public Works will not empty dumpsters, so owners must arrange and pay for private hauling. Large multi-family buildings (five or more units) are also barred from municipal curbside cart collection under § 91.631(B), making commercial dumpster service effectively mandatory for bigger apartment buildings.
