Clinton Township, MI Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Clinton Township provides weekly residential trash pickup through a contract with Priority Waste, and the Township's Trash Collection page lists six observed holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The standing rule is that when one of them falls on a weekday, trash collection occurs one day behind for the remainder of the week, with Friday's collection on Saturday.

Thanksgiving is the one holiday with a narrower shift. The page prints "No collection on Thursday" and says all collections on Thursday and Friday are delayed by one day that week. Thanksgiving Day 2026 is Thursday, November 26, and the day after is Friday, November 27. The page does not say that Monday through Wednesday routes change that week, so only the Thursday and Friday routes are listed as moving.

Christmas is printed as "No collection, December 25," followed by the line that all collections are delayed by one day that week. New Year's Day is printed as "No collection, January 1," with the same one-day delay line. Memorial Day and Labor Day are printed as "No collection on Monday," and Independence Day as "No collection, July 4th," each with the same delay line. The page prints no year and no weekday for the December and January dates, so it does not spell out a calendar of make-up days for 2026-27. Christmas Day 2026 is Friday, December 25, and New Year's Day 2027 is Friday, January 1; the page leaves the result for a Friday holiday to its general rule above.

Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11, 2026) is not on the Township's list of six observed holidays, and the page says nothing about it. The Township's Yard Waste & Compost page states no holiday rule of its own. It says pickup day is the same day as trash and recycling, and that seasonal collection runs from April 6 to mid-December.

The Township's Codified Ordinances back this up. Section 1060.11 of Chapter 1060 says refuse is collected according to the district where a premises sits, under pick-up schedules established by the Department of Public Works. It also provides that when the Township or the hauler has a legal holiday within a calendar week, refuse is collected the following day, excluding holidays and Sundays, unless posted to the contrary.

Set-out times: the Trash Collection page puts carts at the curb between 6 pm the day before and 6:30 am on the day of service, while § 1060.11 sets 6:30 a.m. as the deadline and prohibits depositing refuse before 7:00 p.m. the preceding evening. Residents who cannot bring carts to the curb can ask about door-side collection through DPS.
