Oklahoma City, OK Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Section 49-27 is one sentence: collection personnel observe all public holidays except the day following Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve. It names no dates and defines no makeup day. The dates come from the Holiday Collection Schedule on the City of OKC My Trash Day page, a chart with three columns: Holiday, City Observed Date and Makeup Day.

For the winter holidays the chart prints Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 26 with a makeup day of Saturday, November 28, and the Day After Thanksgiving on Friday, November 27 as Collection as usual. Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, is Collection as usual. Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, has a makeup day of Saturday, December 26. Under the 2027 heading, New Year's Day, Friday, January 1, has a makeup day of Saturday, January 2. Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, reads Collection not affected. The chart has no row for New Year's Eve.

The chart's other rows: Memorial Day (Monday, May 25) and Labor Day (Monday, September 7) have Wednesday makeup days, May 27 and September 9. Juneteenth (Friday, June 19) and Independence Day (Friday, July 3) read Collection as usual. For 2027, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Monday, January 18) has a makeup day of Wednesday, January 20, Memorial Day (Monday, May 31) has Wednesday, June 2, and Juneteenth (Friday, June 18) reads Collection as usual.

The page also prints standing rules. The City-observed date can differ from the actual holiday: a holiday that falls on a weekend is observed on the Friday before or the Monday after. Service date changes are set each April for the next Fiscal Year (July 1-June 30). Bulky waste pickup is not affected by holiday schedules. The page writes no general makeup rule, so read the Makeup Day column row by row. It names no service area and does not mention yard waste.

The Solid Waste Management Division of the Utilities Department runs collection (§§ 49-21, 49-22), and § 49-25(a) has the division or privately contracted personnel collect cart waste on the regularly scheduled pickup day for both urban and rural collection residences. The My Trash Day map shows regular schedules only. Weather changes are announced to local news media and posted on the City's Facebook and NextDoor pages, and for a tornado or ice storm the City can set up a special storm debris page.
