Port St. Lucie, FL Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Sec. 80.02 of the Port St. Lucie Code of Ordinances defines Holiday as Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and any other days designated and agreed to by the director and division manager. The director is the City Manager or the City Manager's designee(s). Sec. 80.06(a)(3) then states that collections shall not occur on holidays and that collections that would normally occur on these holidays shall be rescheduled as specified by the franchise agreement. The code prints no make-up date.

The city's Office of Solid Waste supplies the make-up rule on its Collection Schedule page. Independence Day (July 4), Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only observed holidays that affect collection schedules, and the garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk collection schedules shift forward one day. The page's own example: a Thursday customer on Thanksgiving is collected on Friday, and Friday service moves to Saturday.

The city's 2026 holidays calendar puts dates on that rule. In Thanksgiving week, November 23 to 25 are labeled Regular collection and Thursday, November 26 reads NO SERVICE Thanksgiving. The cell for Friday, November 27 reads "Thursday's collection will be picked up today." and the cell for Saturday, November 28 reads "Friday's collection will be picked up today." In Christmas week, December 21 to 24 are labeled Regular collection. Friday, December 25 reads NO SERVICE Christmas, and the cell for December 26 reads "Friday's collection will be picked up today." The last cell on the December page, JANUARY 1 NEW YEAR'S DAY, is labeled Regular collection, so Friday, January 1, 2027 is a normal pickup day, as is New Year's Eve, December 31. Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, is labeled Regular collection too.

Independence Day needs no adjustment in 2026: the calendar's July page says the Fourth of July is on a Saturday and will not impact collection services this year. The January 1 cell is the only date the calendar prints after December 31.

The Collection Schedule page names no service area. It says your specific collection day is determined by your address. Sec. 80.06(a)(1) measures set-out from the scheduled collection day: before 7:00 a.m. that day and no sooner than 6:00 p.m. the night before collection.
