Cape Coral provides curbside solid waste and recycling collection to residential properties. The city contracts waste collection services with specific pickup schedules and rules for what materials are accepted.
Residential solid waste is collected twice per week. Recycling is collected once per week. Yard waste is collected once per week on a separate schedule. Bulk and oversized items require scheduling for special pickup. Hazardous waste must be taken to designated collection events or facilities. All waste must be in city-provided containers or in bags/bundles meeting size and weight limits. Construction debris requires separate arrangements. The city provides educational materials on proper sorting and collection schedules by neighborhood.
Placing prohibited items at the curb (hazardous waste, construction debris, electronics) may result in non-collection and a notice of violation. Contaminated recycling bins may not be collected. Excessive waste outside of containers receives enforcement attention. Early placement or late retrieval of bins is subject to property maintenance enforcement.
