Full Breakdown

City Code § 19-24 sets the collection window for automated carts: containers for trash and bulk waste can be set out starting at 3 p.m. the day before the scheduled pickup and no later than 7 a.m. on collection day itself. Vegetative waste follows its own schedule, going out no earlier than 7 a.m. the Saturday before pickup. Once collection is done, residents must move carts back to the side or rear of the dwelling; leaving a container on the street past midnight of collection day is a violation the Solid Waste Division tracks under the city's graduated warning-and-fine system.

Violations & Fines

First and second offenses draw a written warning only; a third violation within 48 months brings a citation and a fine, doubling and then tripling for further repeats, per § 19-90.
