Chapter 21, Article XI of the Tallahassee Code of Ordinances (§21-481 et seq.) establishes the city's solid waste collection and disposal program. Residential customers receive weekly garbage pickup, weekly single-stream recycling pickup, and weekly yard-waste collection. Approved carts must be placed at the curb by 6:30 AM on the scheduled service day and returned to storage no later than the following day. Recycling is mandatory for all residential and multifamily properties; §21-515 governs violations and enforcement. Section 21-488 sets yard-waste curbside placement rules. The City Director may suspend collection service for non-compliant properties under §21-494.
