Apopka Code Chapter 62 establishes the residential recycling program. Single-stream recycling is collected weekly in blue carts. Accepted materials: paper (newspaper, magazines, mail, office paper), flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs coded 1 PET or 2 HDPE, aluminum cans, steel and tin cans, clean glass bottles and jars. Excluded: plastic bags, film, styrofoam, food-soiled containers, pizza boxes with grease, diapers, clothing, electronics, yard waste, garbage. Residents should rinse containers and leave lids attached. Contaminated loads may be rejected as garbage. Participation is mandatory for all single-family residential customers under Chapter 62.
