Grapevine provides single-stream curbside recycling weekly through Republic Services. Accepted items include clean paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, steel cans, and specific plastics (#1 and #2 bottles and jugs). Plastic bags, shredded paper, styrofoam, and contaminated food containers are not accepted and cause load rejection.
Grapevine offers single-stream curbside recycling to all residential customers through Republic Services. A dedicated recycling cart (typically 64 or 96 gallons) is provided for each household; all recyclables can be mixed into the same container. Accepted materials include clean and dry paper, newspapers, magazines, mail, cardboard (flattened), paperboard (cereal boxes), aluminum and steel food and beverage cans, and plastic bottles and jugs marked #1 PET and #2 HDPE such as water bottles, soda bottles, milk jugs, and laundry detergent bottles. Glass is currently not collected curbside in Grapevine due to processing limitations; glass can be dropped off at certain recycling events or regional facilities. Not accepted in curbside recycling include: plastic bags and film (take to grocery store bag recycling), Styrofoam and expanded polystyrene, shredded paper (bag in paper and put in trash or check for special events), greasy pizza boxes (very contaminated), food waste, yard waste, scrap metal, textiles, and electronics. Contamination such as liquid, food residue, or non-recyclable plastics can cause an entire truckload to be landfilled. Residents should rinse containers and keep cardboard dry. Recycling education is available through the city website. Holiday-recycling guidance often publishes around Christmas for wrapping paper, boxes, and trees.
