Pembroke Pines offers weekly curbside recycling through Waste Pro USA. Residents receive a blue recycling cart for single-stream recycling. Accepted materials typically include paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers (#1-#7), aluminum cans, steel/tin cans, and glass bottles. Contamination (food waste, plastic bags, styrofoam, hazardous materials) may cause the entire cart to be rejected. Florida's recycling goals are set at the county level under FL Statute 403.706, with Broward County required to meet a 75% recycling rate goal. Individual residential participation is encouraged but not mandated by state law. Bulky recyclables may be disposed of at county recycling facilities.
Contaminated recycling carts may not be collected. No individual penalties exist for not recycling.
