Schaumburg provides single-stream curbside recycling collected weekly. Residents receive a dedicated recycling cart and are encouraged to recycle paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, and metals.
The Village of Schaumburg provides single-stream recycling through its contracted waste hauler. Each household receives a recycling cart (typically 65 gallons) collected weekly on the same day as trash. Accepted materials include paper, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, plastic containers (#1β#7), glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, and cartons. Recyclables should be clean, dry, and loose β no bagging. Contaminated items include plastic bags, food-soiled paper, styrofoam, electronics, and hazardous materials. The Village periodically distributes recycling guides and updates accepted materials lists. Multi-family buildings with four or more units are required to provide recycling services to tenants. Schaumburg participates in Cook County's recycling programs and goals.
Contaminated recycling carts may be tagged and left uncollected. Repeated contamination may result in service warnings from the hauler.
