West Palm Beach uses the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County dual-stream recycling: yellow cart for paper and cardboard, blue cart for plastics, glass, and metals. Mandatory for all residences.
Per City Code §70 and SWA county-wide program, recycling participation is required. Yellow lid carts accept newspaper, magazines, mail, paperboard, and flattened cardboard. Blue lid carts accept #1-7 plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, and aseptic cartons. Plastic bags, foam, and food-contaminated items are prohibited. SWA operates the Mecca Farms Materials Recovery Facility processing county-wide collections.
