Flagler County, FL Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Sec. 27-253 of the Flagler County Code defines yard trash as accumulations of leaves, grass or shrubbery cuttings and other refuse from the care of lawns, shrubbery, vines, trees and tree limbs, expressly separate from bulk trash. Sec. 27-257(b) sets the collection limits: yard waste cannot exceed four cubic yards per household, and it must be tied in a bundle, neatly stacked, or placed in a can or bag at the customer's collection point on the designated collection day. Bagged yard waste tops out at eight ninety-six-gallon bags or fourteen fifty-five-gallon bags per household per service.

Individual pieces, branches and cuttings, cannot exceed five feet in length or six inches in diameter, and no single can or bag may weigh more than fifty pounds. Material that crosses the line into bulk trash, cuttings too large for a container or bundle because they exceed these yard-trash weight and size limits, falls under the separate three-cubic-yard bulk trash rule in Sec. 27-257(a) instead. Debris from tree removal or land clearing is excluded from both categories and must go out as a special service, coordinated with the contract collector rather than left at the curb for routine pickup.

This program is part of the Mandatory Solid Waste Collection and Disposal District, whose boundaries under Sec. 27-252 match unincorporated Flagler County; Sec. 27-259 exempts the county's incorporated cities from the assessment unless they've joined by interlocal agreement, so Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Bunnell and Beverly Beach residents follow their own municipal yard-waste rules, not this one.
