Palm Beach Gardens, FL Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 54-2, in Chapter 54's Article I, General Provisions, defines yard trash removal duty for every household in the city. Subsection (a) makes it unlawful to deposit yard trash upon the parkway immediately in front of the premises where it accumulated unless the person removes it within the period the director of public works establishes after it is deposited; the code requires that period to be reasonable and coordinated with the neighborhood's scheduled yard trash pickups rather than left open-ended. Chapter 54 defines yard trash or garden trash under Sec.

54-1 as grass, leaves, tree or shrubbery cuttings incident to lawn care that can fit in a garbage or rubbish can, so the removal duty covers routine landscaping debris rather than construction or post-disaster material, which Sec. 54-63 handles separately. Collection frequency for yard trash follows the schedule the director of public works prescribes under Sec. 54-59, and if trash is placed on the street outside that schedule, Sec. 54-59 lets the director arrange collection at the owner's expense, including any city overtime the extra pickup causes.

Enforcement of Chapter 54 runs through Sec. 54-37: it is unlawful to fail, neglect or refuse to comply with any provision of the chapter, each day of noncompliance is a separate offense, and the director of utilities, director of public works or a code enforcement officer may cite a violator, who is then punished under the general penalty of a $500.00 fine, 60 days in jail, or both, under Sec. 1-18.
