Boynton Beach, FL Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Under Sec. 10-24 of the City Code, garbage is collected twice weekly at curbside from single-family homes served by roll-out carts, and all material must go inside the cart with the lid closed; loose, uncontained piles trigger an automatic mandatory service charge. Yard trash and combustible trash are picked up once a week on a separate scheduled trash day and must never be mixed with household garbage, noncombustible trash, or bulk trash, a mixing violation the code calls strictly prohibited. Yard trash capable of being containerized should go in a garbage can, cart, plastic bag, or disposable container, and only yard waste generated by residential property qualifies for collection; loose piles must be kept away from parked cars, garbage carts, overhead wires, and low-hanging tree limbs.

Bulk trash and vegetation piles are capped at three cubic yards and cannot be set out more than a day before the scheduled pickup, and dumping bulk trash or vegetation on a vacant lot is strictly prohibited. Anything larger than six cubic yards has to go through a special pickup, coordinated with a Solid Waste Supervisor on timing and cost, and items cannot sit at curbside more than 24 hours ahead of that scheduled visit. Residents who cannot physically bring waste to curbside can request a reasonable accommodation from the Public Works Director under the ADA, though vegetative waste must still be placed at curbside even with an accommodation.

Yard trash may not be placed on property owned by someone else without permission, and refuse containers cannot be stored where they are visible from the street outside of collection windows.
