Boynton Beach, FL Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Boynton Beach's Public Works Department runs containerized refuse service for commercial and multifamily properties under Section 10-25. The City supplies and owns the dumpsters, but the landowner is responsible for protecting them and is liable for the cost of repair, cleaning, or replacement if a container is damaged by fire, negligence, vandalism, or other abuse. Section 10-25(a)(2) requires the landowner to keep containers unimpeded so the collection driver can dump them without leaving the truck, and container size or number is set by the volume of refuse generated, with charges assessed on cubic yards removed.

Roll-off containers, used for construction, demolition, cleanup, or special events, are governed separately by Section 10-26. Under subsection (a), any active construction, renovation, remodeling, or repair site holding a City permit must keep an adequately sized container on hand, subject to the Public Works Department's approval on number and type, and the property owner or contractor may either supply their own container and hauler or use the City's roll-off service. Subsection (d) requires roll-offs to sit on the customer's own property in a location accessible for pickup; placing one in the public right-of-way is allowed only with a permit from the Engineering Department.

A roll-off left unserviced for more than thirty (30) days can be removed from the property at the Public Works Director's discretion, and Section 10-26(b) lets the Building Official issue a stop-work order if a construction site is not kept clean and sanitary.
