Troup County, GA Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Sec. 7.2(1) states it is unlawful to place or mix yard trimmings with any other type of solid waste anywhere in the unincorporated County, keeping trimmings out of the general waste stream. Sec. 7.2(2) adds a second, distinct prohibition: it is unlawful for anyone to deposit yard trimmings into any container designated for the collection of other solid waste, so a trimmings pile cannot simply be tossed into a household garbage can or commercial dumpster. This article was adopted by Ord. No. 2025-03 on June 3, 2025, replacing the County's prior solid waste chapter.

Enforcement runs through the same officials named for the rest of Article 7: the sanitation officer, a Board of Commissioners designee, makes routine inspections of collection and disposal practices under Sec. 7.1(1)(b), and the County marshal's department has authority under Sec. 7.1(1)(c) to enforce Article 7's provisions and to collect fines from violators. Because Sec. 7.2 carries no separate penalty clause of its own, a violation falls back to the County Code's general penalty provision, which applies whenever an ordinance declares an act unlawful without stating its own specific fine.
