Troup County, GA Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

UDO Appendix B § 8.10(1)b, adopted with Ordinance No. 2025-03 as one of the parking article's baseline requirements for all uses in unincorporated Troup County, targets how driveways connect to the public road. The text states that no driveway shall be constructed so as to require a vehicle to back into oncoming traffic, and that all driveways shall provide some mechanism for vehicles to turn and face oncoming traffic before entering it. In practice this means a driveway design that forces a driver to reverse blindly across a travel lane, rather than pulling forward or executing a turnaround on the property first, does not meet the standard, whether the driveway serves a house, a business, or an accessory use.

The rule sits beside item (a)'s overnight street-parking ban on commercial vehicles, buses and RVs and item (c)'s side/rear-yard placement rule for recreational equipment, forming a single countywide subsection that Community Development applies when reviewing site plans, driveway permits, and complaints alike.
