Troup County, GA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

UDO Appendix B § 8.10(1), part of the county's off-street parking article adopted by Ordinance No. 2025-03, opens with a requirement that applies to every use and every zoning district in unincorporated Troup County. Item (a) states plainly that commercial vehicles licensed by the State, buses, and recreational vehicles shall not be allowed to park overnight on a road or street. Unlike the weight-based and district-specific limits in subsections (2) and (3) of the same section, this overnight ban is not tied to a gross vehicle weight threshold or a particular zoning category; a bus or an RV of any size is covered simply by parking on a public road or street overnight rather than on the owner's own driveway or yard.

The same subsection (1) also requires driveways to avoid backing into oncoming traffic, in item (b), and directs recreational vehicles, campers, trailers and boats toward side and rear yards, in item (c), so the overnight ban functions as one piece of a broader, countywide baseline for parking behavior that layers on top of any district-specific rule elsewhere in the article. Community Development and code enforcement, working with the Sheriff's Office on public roads, are the agencies positioned to observe and cite a vehicle left overnight in violation.
