La Grange, MO Water Use Rules: Leak Reporting Duty (2026)

Section 710.110 sets sewer service rates based on total metered water usage, at $11.50 minimum for the first 1,000 gallons per month and $4.25 per additional 1,000 gallons. Because sewer charges ride on the water meter, Section 710.110.G addresses what happens when a water leak inflates that reading through no ongoing use by the customer: the occupant or owner must immediately repair the leak, or have it repaired, and must then promptly report the leak and the repair to the City for inspection. After the City inspects, the customer's sewerage charge for the single month in which the leak was reported is offset and adjusted down to a rate equal to the customer's average charge over the three previous monthly billing periods, rather than being billed at the inflated leak-affected usage.

Section 710.110.C requires the City to read the meter and render bills monthly, due at City Hall, and Section 710.110.D adds a late charge under Section 705.090 if a bill goes unpaid past the 15th of the month. Section 710.110.F makes the occupant, user and owner of the premises jointly and severally liable for unpaid sewer charges, and the City may sue either or both for the amount due plus a reasonable attorney's fee. The leak-adjustment mechanism in Subsection G is the only credit built into the rate structure; it applies specifically to sewer billing triggered by a water leak and requires the customer to act (repair and report) before any adjustment is made, so an unreported leak is billed at the full metered rate.
