Shed permit rules in Dublin, OH β also referred to as storage shed, backyard shed, or accessory building regulations β set size limits, setbacks, and when a building permit is required.
Dublin requires a zoning permit for any accessory structure. Sheds under 200 square feet are exempt from building permits under the Ohio Residential Code but must meet Dublin setback, height, and lot-coverage limits.
Under Dublin Code Section 153.074 accessory structures must sit in the rear yard, no closer than 3 to 5 feet from side and rear property lines (district-specific), and may not exceed 15 feet in height in most residential zones. Total accessory coverage is capped (commonly 30 percent of the rear yard). A zoning permit is required before construction; application is made to the Division of Building Standards. Building permits are also required for sheds 200 square feet or larger or with any electrical service.
Building without a zoning permit can result in stop-work orders, double permit fees, and orders to relocate or remove the structure.
