Section 10-37, "Schedule of permit fees," is where Gretna sets how much a shed permit costs, not whether one is needed; the shed line sits in the "OTHER STRUCTURES OR PROJECTS, ADDITIONS/REMODEL DWELLING" table under subsection (a), which the code notes is "expressed as dollars of value per square foot." A storage shed is valued at $10.00 per square foot: a 100-square-foot shed is valued at $1,000.00, and a 200-square-foot shed at $2,000.00. That valuation then runs through subsection (c)'s building permit fee formula: "the minimum base building permit fee for all construction work requiring permits shall be $30.00 for the first $1,000.00 of value plus $5.00 per additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof of total construction value," so a 100-square-foot shed carries a $30.00 permit fee and a 200-square-foot shed carries a $35.00 fee.

Subsection (b) lets the building official require detailed cost estimates if a shed's declared valuation looks underestimated.
