Sec. 52-226, adopted by Ordinance No. 3413 in 2002 and renumbered under Ordinance No. 4564 in 2014, opens with definitions before stating its prohibition. 'Recreational vehicle' covers any towed, hauled or self-propelled portable structure without a permanent foundation designed as temporary living space, including travel trailers, truck campers, camping trailers and self-propelled trailer homes. 'Trailer' covers any vehicle without motive power designed for carrying property or passengers or for living, sleeping, business or storage use, resting on wheels, blocks, skids or jacks rather than a foundation.

'Watercraft' covers any single- or multiple-person vehicle, motorized or not, used primarily on the water, and 'vehicles with more than two axles' covers any motor vehicle with more than two axles used for commercial or private use. ' The prohibition is citywide and applies regardless of whether the street fronts a residential or commercial lot, since the text names 'public city streets' generally rather than a particular zoning district. Subsection (c) supplies the one built-in exception: the code enforcement official may issue special event permits allowing storage trailers to sit on city streets, each permit good for 30 days and extendable once for another 30 days on a showing of good cause.
