Gretna, LA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Sec. 52-213, most recently amended by Ordinance No. 4739 in 2016 after earlier revisions in 1999, 2005 and 2014, governs on-street paid parking in Gretna. Subsection (a) gives the city's parking administrator the authority to 'place lines or marks on the curb or street to designate parking spaces' and requires that every vehicle parked in a paid zone stay parallel to the curb, no more than 12 inches from it, or within the marked lines on a diagonal space. A vehicle that occupies more than one marked space, because it is longer than the space itself, must be paid for in full for each space or partial space it takes up, under subsection (b).

The parking administrator, not the police department, is named as the office that places the marks, though Gretna Police enforce the payment and space-line requirements once posted.
