A single-story detached accessory building used as a tool/storage shed, playhouse, or similar use, where the roof area does not exceed 120 sq ft, does not require a building permit. Accessory buildings and structures must be set back a minimum of 10 feet from any rear lot line and 5 feet from any interior side lot line. However, accessory structures that do not contain conditioned space, do not exceed 12 feet in height, are 120 sq ft or less, and are located at least 5 feet behind the street-facing facade of the primary structure may be located up to 3 feet from an interior side or rear property line.
