Under Village Code Section 91.14 (Keeping Certain Animals Prohibited), it is unlawful to keep or harbor bees, wasps, hornets, or the like within the Village of Tinley Park. This is a complete prohibition on beekeeping in all residential and commercial zones. The section was amended by Ordinance 2017-O-060 (passed October 17, 2017) and most recently by Ordinance 2024-O-060 (passed November 19, 2024). Section 91.14 also prohibits keeping live snakes, large cats, swine/pigs, and other non-pet animals within the Village, except as permitted in pet shops and animal hospitals.
Keeping bees in violation of Section 91.14 is subject to fines up to $750 per offense under Section 10.99. Each day constitutes a separate offense.
