02(A) prohibits maintaining slaughterhouses within the city and prohibits keeping poultry, dogs, cattle and other domestic or wild animals within the city, except as provided in the Zoning Code. The section carves out one broad exception: dogs and other small domestic animals may be kept as household pets, but those pets may not be kept for breeding purposes. A second, narrower exception in subsection (B) grandfathers places that were already lawfully keeping poultry, dogs, cattle or other domestic animals, or maintaining a slaughterhouse, before June 10, 1958; once such a grandfathered operation stops keeping the animals or maintaining the slaughterhouse, the grandfathering ends and the use may not resume.

03 separately bars mules, cows, horses, dogs, sheep, cattle or other animals, and chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas or other domestic fowl, from running at large anywhere in the city; any animal or fowl found running loose can be picked up by police or an authorized agent and taken to a licensed veterinarian or the county pound. 04 adds a related restriction on the retail side: it is unlawful to sell, offer for sale, barter or give away baby chickens or ducklings under six weeks old, or rabbits under two months old, as pets, toys, premiums or novelties, though the section allows breeders and stores to sell them for commercial raising.
