League City, TX Animal Ordinances: Chickens & Livestock (2026)

Section 18-20 allows livestock on premises of five acres or more, kept at least 50 feet from any residence or occupied building on adjoining property. A grandfathering exemption exists if livestock keeping predates nearby construction. Section 18-24 requires poultry, fowl, and rabbits to be kept at least 50 feet from any residence other than the owner's. Section 18-25 mandates strict sanitary conditions: pen floors must be cleaned at least once every 24 hours, interiors must be disinfected weekly with lime or similar compounds, and premises must be maintained pest-free. Roosters are not specifically addressed but would be subject to the general noise ordinance. Swine are prohibited except on properties meeting the 1,000-foot setback from residences under Section 18-19.
