Section 18-8(a) makes it unlawful for any animal owner or keeper to permit or allow an animal to run at large within city limits. Section 18-8(d) allows any person to capture an animal trespassing on their private property and deliver it to the regulatory authority. Section 18-9 authorizes impoundment of any animal found running at large. Impounded animals are held for a minimum of 72 hours. Dogs and cats must wear a collar with registration tag under Section 18-6. All dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies per Section 18-4.
At-large violation: fine up to $500 per offense. Animal may be impounded under Section 18-9 with 72-hour hold. Owner must pay impound and boarding fees for retrieval.
