Denver DRMC Β§8-16 requires dogs to be on a leash in all public areas. Off-leash is only permitted in designated off-leash enclosures (dog parks). Leash length is not specified.
Under DRMC Β§8-16, dog owners and keepers must prevent their dog from running at large in any public area. Dogs must be controlled by a leash, cord, or chain held by a person when outside the owner's property. The only exception is in designated off-leash enclosures (dog parks), where a supervising adult (18+) must be present. Denver dog parks are open sunrise to sunset. Dogs at off-leash parks must be licensed, vaccinated for rabies, and spayed/neutered or have an Intact Permit. Violations are enforced by Denver Animal Protection.
Fine for leash law violation: $100 (first offense), increasing with repeat violations. Dog impoundment possible.
