Queen Creek Town Code prohibits dogs from running at large. A dog must be confined to the owner's property or kept on a leash not exceeding six feet and directly under the owner's control when off the property. Repeat at-large violations carry escalating fines.
Town Code Article 6-2 (Rabies/Animal Control Leash Law), Section 6-2-9, states that 'No dogs shall be permitted at large.' Each dog must be confined within an enclosure on the owner's property, secured so it is confined entirely to the owner's property, or kept 'on a leash not to exceed six feet in length and directly under the owner's control when not on the owner's property.' Dogs over three months old must wear a valid license tag except when confined or under the owner's physical control on the premises; working dogs used for livestock control, hunting, exhibitions or races are exempt from the tag-display rule if properly licensed and controlled. A first at-large violation is a class 1 misdemeanor. A second violation within 24 months carries a minimum $100 fine, and a third or subsequent violation within 24 months carries a minimum $500 fine. An at-large violation involving a dog previously determined to be vicious carries a minimum $500 fine and a minimum of five days imprisonment. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control handles much of the licensing and impound side of animal control for Queen Creek.
Reported to Queen Creek Code Compliance or police; a first offense is a class 1 misdemeanor, with minimum fines of $100 (second) and $500 (third) within a 24-month period, and enhanced penalties for vicious dogs at large.
