Redmond requires dogs to be leashed in all public areas except designated off-leash parks, under King County Code 11.04. Marymoor Park off-leash area is the major exception serving the region.
Under King County Code 11.04, enforced in Redmond by Regional Animal Services of King County, dogs must be physically restrained by a leash of no more than 8 feet in length when off the owner's property, with the exception of officially designated off-leash areas. The primary off-leash area for the region is the 40-acre Marymoor Park off-leash dog area operated by King County Parks. Within Redmond city parks (Idylwood Park, Grass Lawn Park, Farrel-McWhirter, and others), dogs must remain on leash at all times, and off-leash use is prohibited. Service animals are exempt from leash requirements when performing their duties. Owners must also carry means of picking up pet waste and remove it immediately. Leash length for training or tracking exceeding 8 feet is allowed only in an off-leash area or with written permission in a specific event permit.
First offense: civil infraction around $50 plus court fees. Repeat violations: $150 to $250 per offense. Dog impound possible for repeated off-leash in leash-required zones.
