Stonecrest, GA Animal Ordinances: Pet Groomer Rules (2026)

Sec. 4.2.11(C) of the Stonecrest Zoning Ordinance regulates pet grooming shops as one of several animal care facility uses listed alongside animal hospitals, animal shelters, pet daycare and kennels. The rule is a straightforward distance standard: any building or enclosed structure used as a pet grooming shop, and the grooming activities themselves, must be located and conducted at least 100 feet from any property that is zoned for or used for residential purposes. Unlike the neighboring provisions for animal shelters and kennels, which add acreage minimums, fencing heights and additional setbacks specifically from residential zoning districts, the grooming shop standard applies only the single 100-foot buffer, making it the least restrictive animal care use in the section.

Because the standard is measured from residential zoning or use rather than from a specific district boundary, it applies whether the residential property sits in an adjoining commercial corridor or across from a larger tract, and it is enforced at the site-plan and permitting stage by the Planning and Zoning/Community Development Department before a business license or building permit is issued.
