Section 30-276, the B-2 retail commercial district's permitted-use list, allows '(15) Dog and pet hospitals in air conditioned buildings (boarding of animals is not permitted)' as a use available as of right alongside other retail and service businesses like automobile service stations and dry cleaners. The same division separately permits '(24) Pet shops and dog beauty parlors in air conditioned buildings (no overnight boarding of animals permitted),' so a grooming business or pet store faces the identical climate-control and no-overnight-boarding conditions as a veterinary clinic even though it's a distinct listed use.

Both conditions do real regulatory work: the air-conditioning requirement rules out an open-air kennel-style clinic, and the boarding prohibition means a Homestead veterinary practice can treat and briefly hold animals for medical care during business hours but cannot operate as an overnight boarding kennel or run a side boarding business out of the same B-2 location. A use that wants to offer overnight boarding would need a different zoning classification or a special exception under § 30-45 and related sections, since B-2's use table doesn't authorize it. Because these are 'uses permitted' entries rather than a standalone veterinary ordinance, the underlying setback, height and lot coverage standards for any B-2 building housing a vet clinic still come from that district's own regulations in §§ 30-277 through 30-279.
